Specification Honda Jazz 2015

The Jazz 2015 is a small MPV with which replaces Honda Jazz 2011 . Its platform is completely new (and lighter), so it is a new generation, the third of this model. Honda already announced in September 2014 its almost final appearance with an eponymous prototype ( images of the Honda Jazz prototype).

Honda supports and orders of this model, although the first units will be delivered in October 2015. According to Honda, the Jazz will have a promotional discount, though so far not been defined. Without the discount, the more affordable version costs 15,900 euros, a price lower than a Hyundai ix20 or Nissan Note ( comparative tab ), but higher than that of a KIA Come or Citroen C3 Picasso ( comparative tab ) .

Its body measures 3.99 meters long, 1.69 meters wide and 1.55 meters high, so it is slightly longer, as wide and slightly higher than the Jazz 2011 ( comparative tab ). The battle is also slightly larger (30 mm), a circumstance that results in a slight improvement in occupancy compared to the previous model, which was already among the best in this aspect-. The trunk has 354 liters, 17 more than the model it replaces. It has very regular shapes and an edge load at 61 centimeters from the ground (which is very little), so that the loading and unloading is performed with ease. All materials that are coated the interior are hard and have a simple appearance, though the fit between the various pieces looks good and not rude noises are heard when driving on rough roads. There are many storage compartments scattered around the cabin, but none of them is particularly large or is coated with non-slip material.

The only engine available in the Jazz range is gas and operates under the Atkinson cycle, a cycle that favors the midrange performance ( more information Atkinson cycle ). It has 1.3 liter, 102 hp maximum power at 6000 rpm and 123 Nm of torque at 5000 rpm. It works very gently, and when idling turns, difficult to tell whether it is on or not. Conversely, under high acceleration or when rotated above 3000 rpm, the amount of noise reaching the interior is very high; noise also not pleasant. Responds very quickly to throttle movements and agility moves with some jazz, but for this you need to use the shift lever frequently and reduce several gears for a more or less intense acceleration.



Standard has a manual gearbox with six speeds (the Jazz in 2011 was one of five) whose operation is nice because the routes are well defined and has a right touch. Optionally you can request an automatic transmission of continuously variable (1000 €) is especially recommended for those who will use the vehicle in city or ring roads. In these areas, it works with an unusual softness and exits from standstill quickly and without hitches. Open road, however, is not so nice because when a more or less intense acceleration (for example, when climbing a port or to overtake) is required, the motor is much revolutionize and held in a fixed regime, unrelated to the acceleration experienced by the vehicle. To help avoid this, you can lock the drive in seven fixed positions (that mimic seven gears) from paddles behind the steering wheel. The result has not seemed entirely satisfactory because it keeps the selected gear if we step on the gas pedal with a certain intensity (although we select manually, the electronic management understands that we need to speed as quickly as possible and continues to operate in mode completely automatic).

Versus the previous model, Honda has made ​​adjustments in management, now has a gear ratio different (14.1: 1 vs. 18.1: 1 in the previous model) and suspension (the stabilizer bar front has a diameter of 25 , 4 mm by 18.23 Jazz 2011). I have not driven the Jazz in 2011, so I can not differentiate against the new model. The latter has a rather soft suspension absorbs road irregularities well and, therefore, offers good comfort to the occupants.
